About the Artist - Cathy Phaneuf
Let me begin with, I am a handspinner. Sitting with my wheel and a basketful of wool is my passion. Being a reluctant knitter with tons of beautiful yarn, I turned to weaving as a means of using up my yarn and was hooked for life. Weaving allows me to be creative while soothing my soul.

I live with my husband on a small farm outside Columbiaville Michigan . We both enjoy spending time at home and my fiber activities fill most of my days since retiring from a 30 year career that kept me away many hours a week. I spend most of the winter spinning and weaving to build up my inventory so that in the summer I can travel to Sheep and Wool Festivals and Art Fairs throughout Michigan. For a list of the shows that I will be participating in, see the Shows & Events page. My yarn is carried in a couple of shops throughout Michigan which can be found under the Online Store and I always have yarn here at the house for sale.

Her Work
My favorite weaving projects are blankets and rugs using my handspun yarns. My largest loom is capable of weaving a queen size blanket in one piece; kings can be done in two pieces and stitched up the center. I use mostly millspun yarns for threading the loom and my handspun yarns for weaving. I have woven blankets for customers using their millspun yarns as many sheep producers do not have an outlet for their yarn. Contact me if you think this might be something you'd like to explore. Using your yarn, it is really quite affordable. I also do custom spinning of most fibers at very reasonable rates. Additional Information
I have several looms ranging in size from 12 to 90”, 4 to 12 harnesses. I buy used looms and recondition them for resale. If you are in the market for a loom, a used loom is a great way to start out without a huge financial investment. I generally help with delivery and setup, get the loom warped and get you started on a project as part of my services, distance allowing. Many times I also have used weaving tools for sale.

I have recently begun dabbling in jackets and jacket kits. The body of the jacket is woven by me, the sleeves, button band and collar are completed by you. This makes a handwoven jacket very affordable with some work by the knitter. I also sell completed jackets. Jackets and kits can be seen in my online store as well as at the shows I attend.
